Every artist has been told the same thing: post more, post everywhere, boost it if you have to. The data on how people actually find new music in 2026 tells a different story. Exposure and streams increasingly come from other people's channels, not the artist's own feed, and the research now shows why in specific, measurable ways. How people actually find new music Deloitte's Digital Media Trends research found that 82% of Gen Z and 70% of millennials discover new artists thr

When most brands think about creator marketing, they default to polished travel influencers or lifestyle creators. Airbnb did something different. Instead of casting a traditional travel influencer, the company featured Xaviersobased—an emerging artist known for his distinct online presence and influence on youth culture—in a campaign promoting the platform. The collaboration was unexpected, which is exactly why it generated conversation across social media. Why It Worked The

Brands are finally catching up to something musicians have known instinctively for decades: one exposure doesn't sell anything. According to the 2026 Creator Impact Report from Statista and NeoReach, only 12% of consumers will purchase after seeing a product once. Roughly a third need two to three exposures. Another 14% need four to six. And yet the standard creator marketing playbook is still built almost entirely around the single post: hire a creator, get one piece of cont

Marketing has spent a decade optimizing for the wrong number. Reach, followers, CPM. These metrics measure how many people saw something, not whether they believed it. Only 1.4% of Spotify artists earn more than $1,000 per year from streaming. An artist with 100,000 monthly Spotify listeners earns roughly $1,200 per month before distributor cuts. Music artists. Not because they're hard to find. But because there hasn't been a proper infrastructure connecting them to brands in a way that's scalable and built for how music culture actually works. That's changing. Followers vs Fans — There's a Difference There's one word that separa

Brand partnerships used to be reserved for artists with major label backing and millions of followers. That's no longer the case.
